Privacy Policy

Our Philosophy

We believe in privacy, and we think that you should be able to use the Internet without sacrificing your privacy. That’s why we collect and store only what is essential to bring this service to you.

Registration

Most of what you will do on an Embers Design Studios websites will require that you register an account. During registration we will collect what personal data we require.

What do we collect from you?

Generally, we need your email address, maybe a social media name, an image and possibly an id. If we need anything more, you will know as it will be included in a form field you need to fill out.

If you want us to send you marketing emails and keep you apprised of everything happening at Embers Design Studios join our mailing list which is managed by MailChimp.

What do we do with the items we collect from you?

We display your name and image in the menu of the application. We use your ID to associate all your characters, rules, and such with your account. It is not used for any other purpose. We do not sell your data with anyone. We do not share your data with anyone except where you explicitly authorize a third-party integration.

A word on cookies.

Embers Design Studios websites requires cookies to function properly. We use the cookies to do things like remember your settings and preferences. We don’t do anything else with this information.

And Google Analytics.

We have Google Analytics running on Embers Design Studios websites. We don’t use this for advertising and we don’t try to identify you personally. We just want to know what our traffic patterns look like.

And Google Drive.

Embers Imagine has an optional integration with Google Drive and Google Docs that lets you import a Google Doc into an adventure page, or export an adventure page to a new Google Doc. The integration is off by default. You only connect it if you choose to.

What permission we ask for. The integration uses Google’s drive.file scope. It limits us to Google Docs you explicitly hand to Embers Imagine using Google’s own file picker, as well as Google Docs that Embers Imagine creates on your behalf when you export. We cannot list, search, browse, or read any other file in your Google Drive.

What we store. When you connect, we store an encrypted access token on our servers so you don’t have to re-authorize every session. When you import a Google Doc, we save its converted contents as an adventure in Embers Imagine. We don’t copy or store any other files from your Google Drive.

How to disconnect. You can disconnect the integration at any time from your Embers Imagine account settings. Disconnecting revokes the token with Google and removes our copy. You can also revoke access directly at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Limited Use. Embers Imagine’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

And Connected AI Clients.

Embers lets you connect third-party AI applications (like Claude Desktop, MCP Inspector, and similar tools) so they can read or modify your Embers content on your behalf. The integration is off by default. A connection only exists if you choose to authorize one.

What permission they ask for. When you authorize an AI client, you see a consent screen listing the specific scopes it’s asking for (e.g., “Read your worlds”, “Manage your campaigns”). You should review the list before clicking Allow.

What we send. Once you authorize a client, it can send requests to Embers on your behalf using a token we issued during consent. We respond with the Embers data those scopes allow and nothing more. The AI vendor running the client (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, etc.) receives whatever data is exchanged and is subject to their own privacy policy, which we do not control. Review the vendor’s policy before connecting.

What we store. A record of every active grant: which client, which scopes, when it was granted, when it was last used. No content received back from the vendor is stored.

How to disconnect. Visit Settings in Embers Imagine to see every connected client and revoke their access.

Token lifetimes. Tokens issued to AI clients expire automatically (one hour for active tokens, 30 days idle / 90 days maximum for the underlying grant). Tokens rotate as they are used.

Want Out?

While we hope you love our product and stay forever, if you want to leave and don’t want us to save your account for future use, send us an email at [email protected] letting us know you’d like us to delete your account. We will take care of it for you and delete your account along with all the data we have stored on your behalf.
